Coiling is an ancient technique that has been used around the world for thousands of years. It is a method that is used for building pottery by hand. It doesn’t require the use of a wheel and is often used to create pots and vessels.
This course will take you step by step, from rolling clay into rope-like shapes, building walls of the pieces, placing them on top of each other one layer at a time, which gives you more control over the shape and you will end up with a beautiful vase. The outcome of this technique is always a unique handmade beauty of imperfection
The course has 3 sessions, the first two sessions we will be starting, working on and finishing our object. The last session is for glazing after the object is bisquefired. Objects, which are not finished in the 3 sessions, can be finished in the Open Workshop at Loreto, entrance is 10 CHF for 4 hours.
The material costs of CHF 48 are included in the course price. The course will be held in English.
Tip: Bring an apron and cut your fingernails short.
