Throwing for beginners

Beschreibung/Thema

In this course, you’ll experience the full ceramic process – from soft clay to a finished, fired piece. You’ll receive an introduction to different types of clay, shaping techniques, and the firing process. Glazes and Egobes will also be discussed and can be applied if desired.

What to expect:
Step by step, your instructor will guide you through the essential techniques at the potter’s wheel:

• Preparing and wedging the clay
• Centering, opening, and pulling up
• Trimming the base (turning a foot)
• Optional: Attaching a handle

Your finished pieces will be bisque-fired (the clay and bisque firing are included in the course fee). Depending on your time and interest, you can glaze your first pieces during the course, or complete them later during the open studio hours. Usual studio fees will be charged, such as studio access, glazes and additional glaze firings.

The material costs of CHF 50 are included in the course price.
